Entry Requirements :
A passport is required. Travelers can obtain a visa prior to arrival in Taiwan at a Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the United States (maximum 90 day stay), apply for a landing visa upon arrival (maximum 30 day stay), or apply for entry under the Visa Waiver Program (14 day stay). The fee for a visa obtained abroad or a landing visa is NT$2300. One photo is required.
Taiwan previously required that U.S. visitors to Taiwan hold passports valid for as least six months from the date of expected departure. In some instances, this is no longer the case. Travelers arriving in Taiwan with a valid passport and valid Taiwan visas may be admitted for up to 90 days even if their passports are valid for less than six months.
Travelers who apply for a landing visa upon arrival will be admitted for 30 days or up to the day the passport expires, which ever comes first. Travelers applying for admission under the Visa Waiver Program must have passports valid for six months after the planned departure date.
Restricted entry and transit :
Nationals of China (PR) are not currently permitted to enter Taiwan unless on business.
