Australia eVisa Types

The following visa types are available for foreigners willing to visit Australia:

  • ETA – a multiple-entry permit issued to citizens of Malaysia, the United States, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, Hongkong, Canada, Brunei-Darussalam.
  • eVisitor – a multiple-entry visa that can be granted to all Europeans.
  • Both ETA and eVisitor can be used for two main reasons, which are as follows:

  • Tourism – holidays, stopping by friends and relatives, exploring the country, etc. A tourist e-visa to Australia allows multiple entries, while each stay can last maximally 90 days.
  • Business – participating in international conferences, meetings, events, negotiating contracts, etc. A holder of a business e-visa can plan a few visits to the country staying up to 90 days each time.
  • Validity

The validity of both ETA and eVisitor Visa is 12 months from the date of their issuance.

With an ETA or eVisitor Visa, you are allowed to make several visits throughout a one year validity period. However, during each visit, you can stay for a maximum of 3 months.

If your passport is valid for less than a year, your eVisa will remain valid until your passport expires.

Your stay cannot be extended when you have already entered Australia. If you want to spend more time in Australia, you need to leave the country for at least 3 days and after that period you are allowed to come back and stay another 3 months (as long as your visa is still valid).
