Tanzania Visa Types

Depending on the purpose of your trip, Tanzania offers two types of electronic visas. The available types are as follows:

  • transit e-Visa: this visa type is dedicated only for transit trips. Travelers going to another country willing to make a transit stop in Tanzania can stay with transit e-visa for 7 days. It cannot be used for tourism purposes.

Validity

e-Visa to Tanzania is issued as a single-entry visa that allows a maximum 30-day stay (tourist visa) or 7-day stay (transit visa). The validity period starts from the planned date of your arrival in Tanzania (the same date you will provide in an online form). Tourist visa and transit visa remain valid for 30 or 7 days, respectively.

e-Visa to Tanzania dedicated only to the US citizens is valid for 1 year.

Requirements

Eligible citizens can now apply online for an eVisa to Tanzania.

Important information

Useful information about eVisa to Tanzania

  • An applicant’s passport cannot expire for min. 6 months starting from the intended entry date to Tanzania.
  • e-Visa to Tanzania isn’t issued for business and work purposes (to get a work visa, an applicant is required to visit the Embassy in person and receive a standard visa).
  • Tanzania e-Visa is directly matched with the passport data provided in the application form. It basically means that any change of your passport data makes your e-Visa automatically invalid.
  • Every foreigner wishing to enter Tanzania must obtain a visa, even underage travelers.
  • Travellers with dual nationality must travel along with the same passport data of which they provided in the application for a Tanzanian e-visa.
  • You should be very sure of the date you are expected to arrive in the country. The validity period of e-visa starts on the entry date (indicated in the online form).
