What is eVisa to Iran?

The Iranian government has taken the ‘eVisa’ initiative to promote the country’s tourism industry. The citizens of many countries can apply for online visas to Iran and get permission to visit the country much easier.
You can apply for eVisa online and collect your eVisa from the nearest Iranian embassy after your application has been processed and approved online.

All applicants receive the authorization codes that must be submitted to collect the approved e-visa at the Embassy. From the moment of getting the code, one has 1 month to obtain an e-visa before the code becomes invalid.

eVisa To Iran Types

  • Single-Entry eVisa For 60 Days
    With a single entry eVisa valid for 60 days, you can stay for 30 days in Iran. You can enter Iran only once as it is a single entry eVisa. Single entry permits can be used for tourism purposes, family reunions, sightseeing, etc.
  • Single-Entry eVisa For 90 Days
    Single entry eVisa for 90 days has a validity of 3 months, and it also allows you to stay for one month in Iran. You can enter the country for one time on your single-entry travel permit. Single entry permits can be used for all kinds of tourism-related activities.

  • Transit eVisa
    Transit eVisa has a validity of 30 days, and you can stay for seven days within the boundaries of Iran for transit purposes only.
  • Multiple-Entry eVisa
    Multiple-entry eVisa qualifies you to make several visits to Iran during the validity period of the visa. This visa is valid for 90 days, and it is applicable for business purposes or attending/participating in any sports-related activities.

The validity of your eVisa to Iran will vary according to the type of visa you’ve applied for. Generally, the validity of an eVisa varies from 30 days to 90 days.

eVisa to Iran Requirements

The requirements that must be met by every applicant when applying for e-visa to Iran are simple and standard:

  • to have a valid passport with at least six months of validity. The six months validity condition is applicable from the date of the arrival in Iran.
  • to have an active email address.
  • to have at hand a working device, e.g. smartphone, tablet, PC,etc. that is connected to the internet.
  • to have access to a valid means of payment (one of those available in an online application form).

Let’s go through the application form and how to fill it properly. The complete instructions on how to do it may be summarized in 3 simple steps, which go as follows:

  • The first step to get your electronic entry permit is filing an online application and submitting the required documents. You will be required to enter your personal details, passport data, and travel-related details.
  • The second step is to pay the fees for your electronic visa. You can cover it by choosing one of different modes of payment, depending on your convenience.
  • Thirdly, you will get the authorization code for collecting your eVisa from the Iran Embassy located nearest your home.

The online visa application process can take up to 10 business days after submitting documents and covering the visa fee. Once you receive the Authorization Code, you will need to visit any Iranian embassy near you in person to collect your eVisa.

Important information

Useful information about eVisa to Iran

  • You must possess a printed copy of your eVisa and a valid passport at your arrival in Iran.
  • The visa processing fee is only EUR 39, no matter which type of e-visa to Iran you’re applying for.
  • If you want to extend your eVisa, you must contact the Iranian Embassy or Immigration Department. You need to inform the Police Department or Immigration Department before the expiration of your eVisa.
  • Every child visiting Iran must possess a valid passport and an individual eVisa.
  • Visa issued upon arrival in Iran is possible, but this way of getting an entry permit is not highly recommended. It may happen you will be denied boarding on your flight to Iran without a prior-obtained visa.
  • Your passport cannot expire within 6 months following the date of your intended entry to Iran.
  • Once you obtain the Embassy Registration (Authorization Code), make sure to visit the nearest Iran Embassy and obtain your electronic visa within 1 month from the moment you received the authorization code. After 1 month, the code becomes invalid.
  • The processing time for your e-visa to Iran application may take up even 10 business days. Please apply for your e-visa early enough.
