Sri Lanka Visa Types

As stated in the beginning, application for the eTA can be done online by simply filling a form. This online form is designed in a user friendly manner, making it very simple to complete.
Before you apply for Sri Lankan eVisa online, ensure that you meet the requirements, which are:

• A passport: You need a valid passport which is valid for nothing less than six (6) months.
• An access to one of the payment options: The applicant must have a valid payment method to cover the fee via PayPal, a credit/debit card or any other available form of online payment.
• An active e-mail address:a valid email address should be used when filling the form online to get your e-Visa in a PDF format.
• Internet connection: check if your connection won’t be interrupted so that you can submit your online application without any problems
• An electronic device: to open and fill an online form, you will need any electronic device, e.g. your smartphone or laptop.

Obviously, to apply for an eVisa to Sri Lanka, you need to use your smartphone or any smart device like an iPad or laptop that has access to the internet. The online form is user friendly and filling it won’t take much time. However, it is advisable to concentrate and focus properly while filling the form. This is to ensure that no mistakes are made.
Follow these 3 simple steps:

1. Provide the required information: personal and passport data, email address, etc. After filling the online application form, carefully go through it to check if you filled all your details correctly.
2. The next stage takes you to the payment option. Here, you choose how to pay, you can choose, e.g. a credit/debit card or PayPal method.
3. Refresh your email inbox! You will get your approved e-visa to the e-mail address indicated in the first stage. It is advisable to use your personal email address, the one that you have constant access to.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Whatever type of e-Visa to Sri Lanka you are applying for, the required documents are simply the same and are limited just to a valid passport. You will be asked to provide some of your passport data in the application form.
To apply for an eVisa, you don’t have to upload any copy of your passport!

• Upon your passport expiration or its data change, your e-Visa becomes invalid and a new visa application must be submitted.
• You can extend your stay in Sri Lanka up to max. 6 months. To get more information, it’s necessary to contact the official Sri Lankan Department of Immigration. Your stay extension can be made only after your arrival to the country.
• eTA to Sri Lanka cannot be used for the purpose of taking up paid employment. To perform work in Sri Lanka, you need to obtain a traditional work permit issued at the Embassy.
• It’s required to apply for eTA at least 3 business days in advance of your planned trip.
